Acupressure for Lower Back,
Hip Pain & Sciatica
I know that millions of people could get help if they learned these Acupressure points for relieving hip pain, lower backaches, and sciatic pain. I’m giving you both an illustrated anatomical drawing and also a photo that shows how to press them.
I want to make it clear where these points are located and how easy they are to use, so you can help yourself feel better. So many people suffer from pain deep in this pelvic area or in the lower back or hip. In sciatica, the pain even extends down the back of the leg. Continue reading and I’ll share how I have used these points, B 48 and GB 30, to heal others. I’ve also used it for myself.
Location
Acupressure point B 48 is one to two finger-widths outside the large bony area at the base of the spine (the sacrum) and midway between the top of the hipbone (the iliac crest) and the base of the buttocks. GB 30 is posterior to the most prominent part of the trochanter in the deep hollow. This point tends to be sensitive.
Directions
For best results, press down and inward gradually, towards the center of your pelvis. Hold firmly for a couple of minutes, while breathing deeply, then release gradually.
For Lower Back Pain
I will never forget the woman who came to my Acupressure class of over 50 social workers. She told me that she had so much lower back pain that she couldn’t sit in a chair. She had to lie down.
At the break, when she asked for help with her lower back pain, these pelvic points surprised both of us. Even though these Acupressure points were so much lower than the pain in her back, it relieved her pain significantly in just 10 minutes. These points are also effective for relieving sciatica, frustration, hip problems, rheumatism, paralysis, and epilepsy.
For Sciatica
These Acupressure points are two of the most effective spots on the body for relieving the pain of sciatica. To use these points for yourself, get a one-pound bag of beans, and lie on your side so the bag of beans presses into each of the points separately. Adjust the position of your legs so it hurts good. Breathe deeply for a few minutes, then move to whatever is the most comfortable position for you, and relax for a few more minutes.
For Child Birth & Postpartum
My wife and I decided on having a home birth. The B 48 Acupressure points on both sides of the body, called the Womb and Vitals, were the most important points for assisting my wife to dilate and have our baby. These points are also excellent for postpartum recovery.
Other Benefits
These include bladder weakness, urinary problems, hemorrhoids, and pain that goes down the leg.
